Archibald
Joseph Cronin was a Scottish novelist, dramatist, and non-fiction
writer who was one of the most renowned storytellers of the twentieth
century. The Citadel one of his best-known works, and it was adapted to
film. This novel was written in 1937. In the United States, The Citadel
won the National Book Award, Favorite Fiction of 1937, voted by members
of the American Booksellers Association. According to a 1939 Gallup

read.
This
book tells us about the young doctor Dr.Manson who starts working as a
doctor and is faced with problems in a health care system. At first, he
is staggered by what he sees and despises all that a lot. He gets to
encounter a lot of doctors without much medical expertise to cure people
so they can easily give their patients a wrong medicine. They are
simply interested in snappy ways of getting money from their patients.
So, he begins to search for ways to change it but without much
success. And soon everything changes...
In
this book we can meet absolutely different types of people: poor and
rich, mean and generous, arrogant and benevolent, some of them are
deeply silly, envious, cowardly, while the others are exceptionally
intelligent, broadminded, cheerful, amiable, and sensible.
This
book excellently reveals the topic which is connected with money. The
Citadel shows how people can be dangerously obsessed with money and
possession, and that they are even bloody eager to sacrifice other
people’s lives to get money... In their avidity for money, they are
absolutely blind to see other people’s needs and never want to leave
their comfort zone. In
my opinion, this book will always be of a great success while money is
of a great value and only true passion and concern to people in our
world . I am sure everyone with a great heart and profound mind will
like this book .
